Plattas are handmade tiles from Morocco. They are formed from clay in a special way, dried in the sun, and baked in a real olive oven. This labor-intensive process gives the tile its unique character. This clay contains limestone nuclei, which are regularly found on the surface of the tile or in the glaze. Placement of Plattas
Moroccan tiles require special attention during installation and have their own instructions. Upon purchase, you will receive a step-by-step plan with instructions and tips. We recommend reading these instructions carefully before installing the tiles. Alternatively, you can hire a qualified tiler who is familiar with this type of tile.
Suitable for
Plattas can be used both indoors and outdoors. For outdoor use: under a roof, protected from water and sun. Severe frost can cause cracks in the glaze.
They are suitable for both wall and floor tiles. The surface is irregular, which can lead to rough edges. They are ideal for hallways, toilets, bathrooms, and kitchens. Plattas can also be used in restaurants.
Colors and sizes
Plattas are available in many different colors. Each batch will have a slight color difference. Furthermore, tiles from the same box may have color variations and irregularities due to the production process and should be considered normal. Platta tiles are hand-cut into various sizes and shapes. In our country, we see mainly square and rectangular shapes, but also Art Deco and hexagonal formats, for example.
Ordering, delivery and shipping
These tiles are delivered per carton. If you would like help calculating the required quantities, expert advice, or a customized quote, we would be happy to assist you in one of our showrooms.
Orders can be delivered to your home by our freight forwarder. They will be securely placed on a pallet, minimizing the risk of breakage. The costs for this are calculated based on weight and volume and may be included in the quote.
It is also possible to pick up the tiles from our warehouse in Breda or our showroom in Utrecht. Pickup is only possible by appointment and subject to availability. If you would like to see the tiles in person and are unable to visit one of our showrooms, you can order a sample through our website.
Care
Plattas have a hard surface and are easy to maintain. Weekly wiping or cleaning with an all-purpose cleaner is recommended. Preferably use an acid-free product that is not too greasy.
For heavy soiling, we recommend using Azule Dirt Remover. This powerful degreaser removes most dirt from various tile types.
