Zellige Natural
The Zellige Naturel is a handmade wall tile measuring 10x10 cm and 1 cm thick and comes from one of our factories in Fez, Morocco.
ATTENTION: In this version, the tile is natural and has no glazed surface! Without glaze, dirt and moisture will penetrate the tile, giving it a "worn-in" appearance over time. Do not install the tile in wet areas or outdoors! To protect these natural tiles from dirt and moisture, we recommend impregnating them with our stain stop.
Each tile you remove from the box is unique. Minor blemishes, limescale marks, and varying color tones are inherent in the product and are not considered defects. The rustic look combines perfectly with a modern interior.
Good to know
Zelliges (Arabic "Zellij") are handmade wall tiles from Morocco. The pure clay washed up from the Atlas Mountains is mixed with only water, then shaped into the required form and dried in the sun. They are then fired in an olive pit kiln and hammered at the edges to allow for almost seamless installation. This labor-intensive process gives the tiles their distinctive appearance and interesting character.
Because pure clay is processed, it contains lime pits that regularly appear on the surface of the tile or in the glaze. This causes small irregularities in the thickness of the tile and on the surface. This is inherent in the product and does not constitute a defect.
Zelliges can only be used as wall tiles. For flooring, we recommend our Plattas and Bejmat tiles.
Laying Zelliges
Moroccan tiles require special attention during installation; we have prepared specific installation instructions for this purpose. We recommend that you read them carefully before installing the tiles. Or hire a qualified tiler who is familiar with this type of tile.
Suitable for
Zelliges can be installed both indoors and outdoors. For outdoor use, they should be installed under a roof, protected from water and sun. If water penetrates the tiles, severe frost can cause cracks in the glaze.
Due to their thinness, zellige tiles are only suitable for wall use. Their surface is irregular, and sharp edges are common. They are ideal for hallways, restrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens. Zellige tiles are also very well-suited for hotels and restaurants.
Colors and sizes
Zelliges are available in many different colors. Each batch is different. Even the tiles within a box may vary in color and shape. This is due to the production process and does not constitute a defect. Zelliges are formed and cut by hand into various sizes and shapes. In Europe, we mostly find square and rectangular shapes. The most beautiful shapes, which are often made into mosaics, are created in the country of origin. Zelliges can therefore produce designer tiles in almost any shape.
Ordering and delivery
All our tiles are delivered in complete packaging units only. If you need help calculating the required quantities, expert advice, or a customized quote, we're happy to help. Visit us in one of our showrooms, contact us by email, or call us.
Orders are delivered directly to your home via our carrier. They are securely secured on a pallet, minimizing the risk of breakage. Delivery costs are calculated based on weight, volume, and postal code area and are included in the quote as standard.
It is also possible to pick up the tiles from our Europe-wide warehouse in Breda. Pickup is only possible by prior arrangement. Please note that German and Dutch invoicing differ; payment can only be processed through the German branch.

maintenance
Zelliges Natural are unglazed and easy to maintain. Clean the tiles with water or green soap.
